Collins Aerospace Announces ₹45 Million Investment in Karnataka; New Bengaluru Facility to Generate 2,000 High-Skill Jobs

Bengaluru, November 11:
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday inaugurated the Collins India Operations Centre (CIOC), a major new facility established by Collins Aerospace at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Devanahalli. The aerospace and defence giant is investing ₹45 million (approximately $25 million) in the state to expand its advanced manufacturing footprint, a move expected to generate over 2,000 high-skill jobs.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister highlighted Karnataka’s growing role as India’s aerospace and defence hub, noting that the state now contributes nearly 65% of the country’s output in this sector. He added that world-class aerospace and defence parks are being developed not only in Bengaluru but also in Belagavi, Mysuru, Tumakuru and Chamarajanagar, with more than 2,000 MSMEs already active in defence and aviation manufacturing across Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah also emphasised the continued investor confidence in the state, pointing out that major players like Mahindra Aerospace and Robsons have made significant commitments, and 48 new agreements have been signed recently in aerospace and defence manufacturing.

The newly launched CIOC spans 46 acres at the KIADB Aerospace Park and will soon become one of Collins Aerospace’s key engineering and manufacturing bases in India. According to the company, the facility will initially focus on producing interior and exterior lighting systems, cargo handling systems, temperature sensors, communication and navigation components, water systems, and electrification sub-assemblies.

Collins Aerospace stated that the site is built to support the future of aviation manufacturing and is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including AI-driven automation, adaptive manufacturing, robotics, and digitally optimised production lines. By 2046, the centre is expected to host more than 2,200 employees, significantly strengthening India’s domestic aerospace capabilities.

The inauguration of the CIOC marks another step in Karnataka’s strategy to consolidate its leadership in aerospace innovation, manufacturing, and defence technology, while opening up new avenues for research, development, and skilled employment in the region
